There are two things you should never forget to include in your leaflet; a solid call-to-action and a killer headline. Make sure that your leaflet has a headline that is short and very catchy. It should be no more than five words and focus on how others can benefit from what you have to offer. Since this is the first thing that catches people’s attention, you want to make sure that you make it count. Short, sweet and to the point is the best way to go. This applies to your call-to-action as well. Research shows that people like the idea of being told what course of action to take. Do you want to go look at your website? Would you like them to give you a call? Do you want an email from them? Be very clear about what you want their next step to be.

#2 – Colour Choices

Many amateur designers make the mistake of using too much colour in an attempt to make their leaflets stand out. While it will get attention, it won’t be the kind you had hoped for. If you are not sure of what colours to use, try black and white with a splash of one other colour for accent purposes. In the event that your company had a definitive colour scheme, you want to incorporate this, but come up with another plan if there are more than three colours associated with your business.

Nearly all leaflets have some kind of text involved. One common error is having far too much text included in the design. It is not difficult to get carried away and add too many words. Not only does this make it hard for people to process everything, but more text means that the font has to be much smaller. Focus on keeping things brief and to the point. The idea is to grab someone’s attention; they can follow up later if they like what they see and would like more information.

#4 – Use Great Images To Increase Impact

If there is only text on a leaflet, people may get bored with it, so integrating pictures is a good idea. You should use one large picture that has a high impact instead of using numerous small ones. While having a number of small pictures can show more of what you have to offer, a single high-impact shot is a real attention grabber. Use great imagery to hook your audience.

#5- Use Your Logo

Most businesses have a logo, and you want to make sure to add it to your leaflet. Unless your logo is one that is well known, you want to keep it fairly small and use most of your space for text and your high-impact image. Consider this point: If people will not recognize your logo, then wasting a lot of space on this is a huge mistake. Once your logo becomes more familiar to others, then it would be fine to make it larger, but keep it smaller until then. Take a look at sporting event billboards. Most of them only have logos since people are already familiar with the companies involved. Unfortunately, you are probably not as popular at this point.
